I recommend the South Beach diet book because it is not only anexcellent reading book but also a learning experience.I'm on Phase twoand have lost over seven pounds but not only has my weight gone downso has my blood sugar.Being a diabetic type two for many years hasresulted in many health issues for me and also having the insulin resistance, caused my weight loss efforts to fail.Even my doctor, anendocronologist was amazed at my A1C improvement that she took me offof the diabetic oral drugs. She also praised my weight loss and lowerblood pressure through this diet.

I was amazed to see that only after the first week I completely lost all my cravings for junk food including my favorites: pizza and ice cream. My only complaint is that this diet is a little expensive and requires a lot of cooking, but I am about to buy some of the other South Beach Diet books which I have heard have less expensive options and less cooking. This is the only diet that I have ever been able to lose weight on. I only wanted to eat healthy food, especially veggies, which usually made me gag before. I would definitely recommend this diet because it doesn't just cut calories like most diets, it's actually healthy, and it is a scientific diet in the way it is designed to fix your blood sugar and re-train you to make healthier choices. Once you are past phase one, you will go back and refresh your memory on phase two. You will read the book through, but don't get rid of it, because you will find yourself going back and reading up on different information. If you want to lose weight but eat healthy, this is the diet for you. This is a very good book with great information. An easy read and easy to understand.
